(For Immediate Release) – Acclaimed Texas singer/songwriter Jack Barksdale returns today with his most fearless and thought-provoking release to date. Out now via Cloverdale Records, “The Scam Song” is a catchy and topical anthem that takes aim at the unchecked influence of wealth, power, and corporate greed in modern society.

Armed with little more than an acoustic guitar, an unmistakable voice, and a razor-sharp pen, Barksdale has started to build a reputation for writing songs that challenge, provoke, and inspire.

On “The Scam Song,” he channels the spirit of the great songwriters before him while delivering a message that feels urgently relevant today.

Written by Barksdale, produced by Memphian, Mark Edgar Stuart, and recorded at Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis, TN., the five-song collection confronts the philosophical, social, economic, and political fault lines shaping today’s world. The album,’Battleground’, out October 16th will be available on CD, Vinyl and Digital. The title track features acclaimed singer-songwriter Julian Taylor, adding another powerful voice to the project.

The result is a bold, uncompromising collection that establishes him not simply as an emerging songwriter, but as one of folk music’s most compelling young voices.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Jack Barksdale has been writing and performing original songs since the age of nine. Drawing inspiration from the rich traditions of folk, Americana, country, rock, and blues, he has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, captivating audiences with songs whose wisdom far exceeds his years.

In 2025, Barksdale released his acclaimed full-length album ‘Voices’ through Truly Handmade Records, the label established by the estate of the legendary Guy Clark. The album’s standout single, “Martyrs,” featuring Grammy Award-winning artist Sarah Jarosz, earned widespread support across Americana radio and SiriusXM. His catalog has since surpassed eight million Spotify streams.

His previous releases include the 2024 EP ‘Out of Order,’ the instrumental collection, ‘Phantom Trails’ and the ongoing Jack Barksdale’s Roots Revival Podcast, where he celebrates the craft and tradition of songwriting through conversations with fellow artists.
